Stillman is in the second season of a three-year contract he signed with the Chicago Blackhawks in April 2021. The deal pays him a total of $4.05 million. He might become a restricted free agent at the end of the season.

The 24-year-old defenseman has five assists in 32 games so far in 2022-23. He was traded from the Blackhawks to the Canucks in October for forward Jason Dickinson.

Stillman is a fourth-round pick, 114th overall, of the Florida Panthers in the 2016 NHL Draft. In his career, he has 23 points (three goals, 20 assists) in 140 games with the Canucks, Blackhawks and Panthers.

The Sabers (31-23-4) have won their last three games and are now just one point behind the Pittsburgh Penguins and second-place playoff-winning fourth ace in the East.

Bloom is a third-round pick, 95th overall, by the Sabers in the 2021 NHL Draft. The 19-year-old forward has 58 points (26 goals, 32 assists) in 59 games with Saginaw and North Bay of the Ontario Hockey League (OHL) this season.

The Canucks (23-31-5) have won just two of their last seven games and are 19 points from last in the playoffs in the West, currently held by the Seattle Kraken. Vancouver had already acquired the services of Vitali Kravstov from the Rangers on Saturday, then Anthony Beauvillier, Aatu Raty and a first-round pick in the 2023 draft in return for Bo Horvat January 30.
