Ring Road Resurfacing and Traffic Updates: Major Works between Braine-l’Alleud and Flemish Border

2023-08-01 15:49:00

We announced it in our columns more than a month ago, major works are being carried out on the ring between Braine-l’Alleud and the Flemish border only in the direction of the capital. The summer period is used to resurface, install safety devices and rethink the layout of the road. For several weekends, the Ring will therefore be closed. The last phase, the resurfacing, begins this weekend, from Friday August 4, 10 p.m., until Monday August 7, 4 a.m. During this period, the Ring will be completely closed, between the interchanges of Genappe (exit 26) and Groenendael, towards Brussels. The operation will be repeated the following weekend, from Friday August 11, 10 p.m. to Monday August 14, 4 a.m., this time between the interchanges of Lillois/Braine-l’Alleud (exit 24) and Waterloo (exit 27) .

New disruptions on the Brussels Ring from next Tuesday: works at Beersel until October

To reach Brussels during these weekends, a diversion is set up from the Haut-Ittre interchange where most of the main roads intersect. You will then have to take the western ring road (R0/E19) towards Wauthier-Braine to reach the capital. As far as local traffic is concerned, the first weekend, residents will be forced to leave the ring at exit 26 (Genappe), and for the following weekend at exit 24 (Lillois).

Another project will begin on the Ring next week, but this time on the Dutch-speaking side at the Beersel interchange. The Flemish administration wants to simplify and secure the shoulder straps. Construction will begin on Tuesday, August 8. In total, the work will last eight weeks to end in October.
