Five security guards suffered contusions and five inmates managed to flee during a violent riot at the Centro de Responsabilidad Penal del Menor de Sograndio in Oviedo, Spain.
According to local reports, the disturbance erupted inside the facility’s workshop area. Inmates forced their way through the exterior fencing, leaving five young people—including two adults—at large. Local Police and Civil Guard units immediately deployed a coordinated search operation to track down the escapees across the surrounding Asturian landscape.
Guards Injured as Emergency Responders Secure the Perimeter
Security personnel initially attempted to contain the unrest independently. However, the sheer volatility of the situation forced staff to request urgent reinforcements from the Guardia Civil. Three of those injured workers required emergency transport to the Hospital Universitario Central de Asturias (HUCA) for specialized care.
