Paris – Riots in various cities of France after France lost to Argentina 4-2 on penalties in the Qatar World Cup final. Hundreds of angry fans started rioting after the defeat. Most of the attacks were reported in the French cities of Paris, Lyon and Nice.
It is reported that the attackers caused extensive damage by throwing stones and firecrackers at the police. Police used tear gas to disperse the attackers in Lyon, where violent incidents were reported.
14,000 policemen were deployed in Paris and Nice to stop the riots. Earlier, when France defeated Morocco in the semi-finals, there was a similar riot.
