London – Instead of A-level and T-level in England, it has been decided to form a new course called ‘Advanced British Standard’. Instead of three subjects, the new course will cover five subjects including English and Mathematics. The Tory government’s new education reform plan aims to improve the quality of education in the country. It will take years for the new reform to be implemented. This year will be the first batch of Advanced British Standard students after ten years to join primary school. Prime Minister Rishi Sunak clarified that schools will be prepared for this course by recruiting more teachers. The Prime Minister announced the plan to revolutionize the education sector at the Tory Party’s annual conference held in Manchester ahead of the general election. This announcement by the Prime Minister is intended to make mathematics compulsory at least till the age of 18.

The current T-level courses aimed at vocational training will also not be available separately in future. These are also replaced by the Advanced British Standard. The Prime Minister explained that the only goal behind this reform is that no child should be left behind in the country.

∙ The age limit for buying cigarettes will be raised every year

The Prime Minister also announced a plan to eliminate the use of cigarettes among young people. It has been decided to increase the minimum age for buying cigarettes by one year every year. With this, now a 14-year-old child will not be able to buy cigarettes. The Prime Minister also stated that the effort is to create a smoke-free youth.

∙ Second phase of HS-2 high speed rail canceled

The second phase of HS-2 high-speed rail from Birmingham to Manchester has been cancelled. In 2012, the construction of the HS-2 high-speed railway from London to Manchester, which was announced and implemented by David Cameron’s government, will end in Birmingham. Corridor construction of HS-2 to East Mid Lans Parkway was also rejected. The £4 billion earmarked for these will be used to improve other transport systems to six cities in the northern regions of the country. The Prime Minister announced in the party conference that more money will be allocated for the renovation of roads across the country.

The government’s decision was criticized by former Prime Minister David Cameron, the Mayor of Manchester and several Tory leaders. Business groups in areas including Manchester have also come forward to criticize the government’s decision. But environmental groups and organizations that opposed the project from the beginning welcomed the decision.

The proposed high speed rail project was from London Euston Station to Manchester Piccadilly. The first phase of this till Burmese will be implemented as per the earlier decision.
