Cape Town: Criticism has been leveled at captain KL Rahul for not including Rituraj Gaikwad in the third ODI squad against South Africa.
Rituraj, who has excelled in the last IPL season and subsequent domestic tournaments, will have to sit on the bench for the second consecutive series.
The Indian team started the third ODI on Sunday with four changes. Still, fans are angry that Rituraj has not been included in the team.
Venkatesh Iyer, R. Suryakumar Yadav, Jayant Yadav, Prasidh Krishna and Deepak Chahar replaced Ashwin, Bhuvneshwar Kumar and Shardul Thakur in the squad.
On Twitter, many are accusing Rahul of being the most selfish captain Indian cricket has seen in recent times.
Some ask why Rahul was not ready to play in the middle order after giving Rituraj a chance. Some said that Rahul did not give the star a chance as his opening slot would be in danger if Rituraj came.
