The phone of the Algerian international striker, Riyad Mahrez, sparked a great deal of ridicule on social media, which called for a response and clarification from the Manchester City star.
Before heading with his team to the United States, Mehrez posted a picture on his Twitter page, yesterday, Saturday, with a broken phone in his hand.
The photo also raised the eyebrows of the followers, who wondered how a big star might use a broken phone.
In turn, Riyad Mahrez responded to the sarcastic comments by publishing another picture of the broken phone, and commented, “Yes, I know that,” jokingly, “I was waiting for the contract renewal.”
Mahrez was referring to the renewal of his contract with Manchester City until 2025.
Analysts considered the renewal of Mahrez’s contract as a reward for the 31-year-old, following he helped City retain the Premier League title.
