Following a road collapse this Wednesday at the intersection between rue Elise and avenue Adolphe Buyl in Ixelles, trams 8 and 25 are interrupted. Tram 8 no longer runs between Legrand and Boondael station. Tram 25, for its part, is interrupted between Buyl and Boondael station. T-buses are being put in place to replace trams. For bus 71, the Buyl stop direction Delta is moved to avenue de l’Hippodrome, at number 149. Avenue Adolphe Buyl is closed to traffic in both directions at the intersection with rue Elise .
The collapse was due to a leak from a sewer which dug a 15 meter cavity under the road. The latter ended up collapsing. On site, we can see a hole several meters deep.
The residents’ water supply is not a problem and Vivaqua is carrying out pumping operations from the damaged sewer. Repairs could take some time: the concrete slab which usually supports the tram rails is particularly resistant. Vivaqua has not yet sent the municipality or the Stib the exact schedule of operations. But according to initial information from the transport company, the trams could be interrupted for 6 to 8 weeks.
