Microbes, these young delinquents who are rampant in certain regions of Cameroon, are increasingly known for their dangerous modus operandi: the robbery of public transport vehicles. In recent times, the upsurge in their attacks on the main roads is worrying more and more the populations and the authorities.
In recent days, on the Bafia-West axis, several road cutter microbes have been captured by the gendarmerie. The microbe gang had specialized in robbing transport buses connecting the Western region. Their modus operandi is well known: one of the members pretends to be a traveler and stops a public transport vehicle. Once on board, about thirty other members emerge from the brush armed with machetes, sabers and other bladed weapons to rob the passengers of their belongings.
These attacks have become commonplace on Cameroonian roads. The microbes, who are often school dropouts, are looking for easy money and do not hesitate to endanger the lives of travellers. The police are deployed on the roads to try to stop them, but the microbes are very mobile and difficult to apprehend.
To combat this scourge, security measures have been put in place. Regular patrols are organized on high-risk roads. Travelers are also invited to be vigilant and to report any suspicious behavior to the police or the gendarmerie. Awareness campaigns are carried out in the media to inform the population about the dangers associated with these attacks.

It is necessary to strengthen development policies to offer future prospects to Cameroonian youth.
