Rob Zombie Releases Spooky New Coloring Book
Prepare to unleash your inner artist. Heavy Metal icon Rob Zombie has unveiled a brand-new coloring book packed with creepy and cool illustrations.
The official Rob Zombie Coloring Book, unleashed by acclaimed publisher Fantoons, features over 30 pages begging to be filled with color. Fans can get lost in a world of ghouls, ghouls, and possibly even more ghouls, alongside cut-out crafts, masks, paper dolls, and other spooky trinkets – perfect for honing those creative chops, zombie-style.
Speaking of rock ‘n’ roll speakers, this new coloring book adds to a growing genre: heavy metal-inspired shenanigans in the coloring book world.
Zombie joins a legion of hard rock and metal legends whose visages have also graced coloring books. Metal titans like Ozzy Osbourne, IRON MAIDEN, RUSH, Johnny Ramone, and even the late, great Lemmy (of Motorhead fame) have all gotten the calculated complexity of black-and-white line art treatment. It seems even metalheads like to chill, color, and perhaps, camouflage ample amounts of adrenaline.
And what’s driving this recent surge in coloring books tailored for the metal faithful?
Artist and designer Laura Marr, back in 2017, on the subject of the burgeoning impact of the color-within-the-lines phenomenon, was moved to observation, “Growing up with the ability to draw, people have often told me ‘I wish I could do that.’ People want to create, but they are hampered by a multitude of reasons. Of course, many lifelong fans likely already know about the rock-n-roll lineage of Zombie’s coloring book. Back in January, Zombie shocked fans by revealing the return of bassist Rob “Blasko” Nicholson – marking the first tour with the iconic rocker since 1997.
“After 18 years I am thrilled to announce that Blasko has returned,” announced on Instagram:
