Four detainees left a frustrated robbery at a BancoEstado branch located on Avenida Vicuña Mackenna, in the commune of La Florida, Metropolitan region.
Carabineros received the alert at 6:40 a.m. this Sunday, following which they mobilized to the scene with seven patrols, a helicopter and a specialized GOPE team.
The police arrived quickly and managed to arrest the individuals in flagrante delicto, who managed to destroy three ATMs, but did not achieve their objective of taking the money.
As confirmed by the uniformed officers, these are four adult men, all of Chilean nationality, with records for various crimes.
“They caused considerable damage to the ATMs, not being able to remove the drawers, as a result of the rapid arrival of Carabineros to the place,” said Lieutenant Colonel Manuel Velázquez Mardones, prefect(s) of the Santiago Cordillera Prefecture.
The individuals were brought to justice and it is expected that they will be formalized in the next few hours.
