After the 2-1 defeat in Hartberg, WAC announced the separation from head coach Robin Dutt. Due to the away bankruptcy, the Wolfsbergers no longer have a chance of making the top six and will miss the championship group for the first time. Dutt already said goodbye to the team on Sunday morning.

On Saturday evening after the game in Hartberg, there was a conversation between WAC President Dietmar Riegler and Robin Dutt, during which the decision was made to release Robin Dutt from his duties as head coach, according to the Lavanttaler website. “I would like to thank Robin Dutt for the nice and interesting time. I’m glad I had the opportunity to get to know such a great personality and I wish Robin the very best for his future,” said Riegler.

Already adopted by the team

Dutt said goodbye to the team on Sunday morning. “The WAC has become very dear to me over the past two years. The relationship of trust with Dietmar Riegler, my coaching team and the staff was something very special. I wish the team, of which I am still fully convinced, all the best,” said Dutt. Co-trainer Oliver Barth is also leaving the WAC coaching team. Who will lead the team in the qualifying group in the fight for relegation and the last chance for a European Cup ticket was not clear for the time being.

Dutt’s 65-game tenure as WAC coach has seen him win 29, draw 8 and lose 28. In his first season, Robin Dutt managed to get back into the championship group with the WAC and subsequently you could qualify for the starting place in the 3rd qualifying round of the UEFA Europa Conference League by fourth place in the final table. Furthermore, Robin Dutt was able to lead the team to the semi-finals of the ÖFB Cup in the 2021/22 season, where they only had to admit defeat against Salzburg after a penalty shoot-out.
