Roborock S7 Max Ultra: the strongest suction power in the range

2023-06-05 14:33:00

After launching its S8 series of robot vacuum cleaners at the start of the year, Roborock returns to the S7 with a version stamped Max Ultra. This new model is obviously not to be confused with the S7 MaxV Ultra, which to date retains Roborock’s most advanced obstacle detection system. The new model, on the other hand, relies more on suction power, but also on ease of maintenance since its station, although identical in appearance to that of the S7 MaxV Ultra to mark its belonging to the S7 series, explains to us -t-on, inherits the hot air drying that appeared at Roborock with the S8 Pro Ultra. However, the latter retains its flagship status. Yes, we grant you, there is enough to get lost.

More powerful than the S7 MaxV, less than the S8

More precisely, the S7 Max Ultra is announced with a suction power of 5500 Pa against 5100 for the S7 MaxV Ultra and 6000 for the S8. It also leaves the S8 the DuoRoller brush with two rubber rollers, and is content with a simple brush, also in rubber, assisted by a side brush for the corners in particular. Unsurprisingly, the S7 Max Ultra can also mop the floor in addition to vacuuming it. To do this, it inherits the VibraRise mop support from the S7. It is also found on the S8 and S8 +, but not on the S8 Pro Ultra which benefits from an improved version with VibraRise 2.0.

To store vacuumed waste and moisten the mop, the latest addition to the S7 range incorporates a 350 ml collector and a 200 ml water tank. We have seen bigger, but the S7 Max Ultra can empty its collector into the 2.5-liter bag provided in its station, but also fill it up with water thanks to the 3-liter water tank. Another tank, 2.5 liters this time, is also provided to recover dirty water since the station is equipped with a mop washing system, to which is therefore added here an air drying system hot. This station of course also allows you to recharge the battery of the S7 Max Ultra. With a capacity of 5200 mAh, it should allow the robot to run for about 180 minutes in the house.

Less intelligent obstacle detection than on the S7 MaxV and S8

To turn, moreover, the latest Roborock can count on a laser rangefinder to which is added a system called Reactive Tech supposed to allow it to detect small obstacles. Closer to the Reactive 3D system of the S8 than to the ReactivAI system of the S7 MaxV Ultra, since it relies exclusively on lasers rather than on a camera and lasers, it does not allow, unlike the other two systems mentioned, the identification of obstacles in the application; only the location of the obstacles is marked with him on the maps.

The Roborock S7 Max Ultra will be available in white and black from June 15 at the recommended retail price of €1,199, but we can expect a slightly more attractive offer for the launch. This new model is therefore certainly not uninteresting. We must nevertheless remember that it arrives in an already very complete catalog, and in which there is no shortage of proposals for those who are not necessarily looking for the best of Roborock, embodied today by the S8 Pro Ultra. Today we find the S7 MaxV Ultra around 1200 € as well, but let’s not forget either the S7 Pro Ultra which is displayed today at less than 900 € almost everywhere. As long as these old models are available, the S7 Max Ultra may therefore have a hard time finding a place. And we are not even talking about the models available from the competition, such as the L10S Ultra from Dreame.
