Rød Ungdom wrecked the leader – adressa.no

The national assembly instead voted for Amrit Kaur, reports NRK.

Smith-Sivertsen reacted by leaving the national assembly hall in protest along with several others.

– There were probably 20 of us who left the national meeting. We made an attempt to deal with the lack of culture in Rød Ungdom, but did not succeed. We no longer want to be part of this, but choose to look forward and rather continue the good collaboration with Rødt, says Smith-Sivertsen to the channel.

It has been a turbulent time in the youth party after five members – including Kaur – were suspended in February. At the national meeting, this was decided to be repealed.

The five were initially suspended because the organisation’s control committee believed they had breached the bylaws.

Smith-Sivertsen has said that the youth party was exposed to a communist coup attempt and that the previously suspended members were part of an organization called Communist Unity.

Smith-Sivertsen says to NRK that the development in Rød Ungdom has been poor over time, and she claims this is due to internal factionalism and friction between different circles.

Newly elected leader Amrit Kaur refutes that there has been talk of a coup attempt.

– The lack of culture in the party is driven by evictions. Hints and accusations of coups are distant to me, she says.
