India won the fourth match of the India-England five-Test series. India defeated England by five wickets. With the win, Rohit and his team were able to win the series 3-1.
After this win, Indian skipper Rohit Sharma got a record achievement. Rohit Sharma became the fourth Indian captain to score a half-century in the fourth innings in Test cricket matches won by chasing India.
Earlier this feat was achieved by former Indian captain Sourav Ganguly. Ganguly has achieved this feat twice. Ganguly achieved this feat by scoring 98 not out against Sri Lanka in 2001 and 65 not out against Zimbabwe in 2000.
Mansoor Pataudi was the first to achieve this feat. The player achieved this feat in 1964 in the match against Australia. Mansoor scored 53 runs against Australia.
Rohit also performed well in batting in the match. Rohit scored 55 runs off 81 balls. Five fours and one six were born from the bat of the Indian skipper.
Apart from Rohit, the young player Shubman Gill scored 52 runs not out in 124 balls. Two sixes came from Gill’s bat. Dhruv Jurrell scored an unbeaten 39 off 77 balls and Yaswasi Jaiswal played a crucial role in the win with 37 off 44 balls.
In the England bowling line, Shoaib Basheer took three wickets and Joe Root and Tom Hartley took a wicket each.
Meanwhile, England were bowled out for 145 runs in the second innings. In the Indian bowling line, R. Ashwin took five wickets and Kuldeep Yadav took four wickets, but England’s batting line collapsed.
Ashwin took five wickets by conceding 51 runs in 15.5 overs. On the other hand, Kuldeep Yadav took four wickets with two maiden 22 runs in 15 overs. Ravindra Jadeja took the remaining wicket.
The final match of the series will be played from March 7 to 11. The match will be held at Dharamsala.
