Elegant, classic and decidedly contemporary, the 1908 immortalizes the long-standing daring spirit of Rolex. Its design is the result of the brand’s deep in-house expertise and unwavering commitment to excellence.
Rolex inaugurates its Perpetual collection with the Perpetual 1908, a name given to the model in homage to the year when Hans Wilsdorf designed the name “Rolex” to sign his creations and registered the brand in Switzerland.
This elegant and discreet watch features a slim case crowned with a partially domed and partially finely fluted bezel. In 18-carat yellow or white gold, the case is equipped with a transparent back which allows you to admire the technical sophistication and decoration of the movement. The particularly refined dial, in intense white or intense black depending on the version, is decorated with Arabic numerals 3, 9 and 12, as well as faceted hour markers. It also features a small seconds dial at 6 o’clock, with the words “Superlative Chronometer” in an arc above it. The hour hand is recognizable by the circle just before the tip, while the minute hand is shaped like a two-edged sword. The model is mounted on a brown or black alligator leather strap, equipped with a double folding buckle.
The 1908 is equipped with the 7140 caliber, unveiled this year. At the cutting edge of watchmaking technology, this movement includes the Chronergy escapement, the Syloxi hairspring and Paraflex shock absorbers. It is also distinguished by its bridges finished with Côtes de Genève Rolex, a reinterpretation of a well-known decoration in watchmaking. Caliber 7140 allows the 1908 to display small seconds, as well as hours and minutes.
Like all Rolex watches, the Perpetual 1908 carries the Superlative Chronometer certification, which guarantees excellent performance on the wrist.

This new collection is a reinterpretation of traditional watchmaking style infused with the quintessential watchmaking expertise and aesthetic heritage of Rolex. The 1908 stands out for its design, which conveys all the strength of the watch’s character in the simplicity of the display and for details which give it its unique identity. REFINED ELEGANCE OF THE CASE
The 1908 sports a 39mm case in 18-carat yellow or white gold, with graceful lines, with a transparent back which allows you to admire the refined aesthetics of the movement as well as the oscillating weight. The curve of the fasteners is highlighted by a delicate chamfer on their upper edges. The bezel is split – the lower part being finely fluted and the upper part domed. Made from virtually scratch-resistant sapphire, the curved glass and transparent back benefit from an anti-reflective coating. Waterproof to a depth of 50 meters (165 feet), the case provides optimal protection for the movement nestled inside.

PERPETUAL CALIBER 7140
The 1908 is equipped with caliber 7140, a movement entirely developed and manufactured by Rolex, unveiled this year. A concentrate of technology, this mechanical self-winding movement offers exceptional performance in terms of precision, power reserve, comfort and reliability. Caliber 7140 is distinguished by its carefully crafted finishes, particularly on the bridges, which feature the Rolex Côtes de Genève – a decoration that differs from traditional Côtes de Genève thanks to the slight polished groove between each band.
The 7140 caliber incorporates the patented Chronergy escapement, which combines great energy efficiency with great reliability. Made of nickel-phosphorus, this exhaust is resistant to strong magnetic fields. The movement also includes the patented Syloxi hairspring, manufactured by Rolex. This silicone balance spring has a patented geometry which ensures the regularity of the caliber in any position. The oscillator is mounted on the brand’s patented high-performance Paraflex shock absorbers, which increase the movement’s resistance to shock. The rotor is 18k yellow gold and cut. In addition, it is equipped with an optimized ball bearing.
The caliber 7140 is equipped with an automatic winding system via a Perpetual rotor. Thanks to its barrel architecture and the superior efficiency of the escapement, the power reserve of the caliber 7140 extends to approximately 66 hours.

LEATHER BRACELET
The 1908 is mounted on an alligator leather strap. Matte brown or matte black, this elegant strap is specially made for the new watch, with a green calfskin lining and tone-on-tone stitching. It is equipped with a Dualclasp, a double folding clasp, in 18-carat yellow or white gold. Thanks to its carefully designed shape, the Dualclasp always remains centered on the wrist.

SUPERLATIVE CHRONOMETER CERTIFICATION
Like all Rolex watches, the Perpetual 1908 is covered by the certification of “ Superlative Chronometer » redefined by Rolex in 2015. This designation certifies that each watch leaving the brand’s workshops has successfully passed a series of tests carried out by Rolex in its own laboratories, according to its own criteria, after official certification of the movements by Official Control Swiss Chronometers (COSC). Internal certification testing applies to the fully assembled watch, after the movement case, ensuring superlative performance on the wrist in terms of precision, power reserve, water resistance and self-winding. The precision of a Rolex Super Chronometer is of the order of -2/ +2 seconds per day – the rate deviation tolerated by the brand for a finished watch is significantly smaller than that accepted by the COSC for official certification movement alone.
Super Chronometer status is symbolized by the green seal that accompanies each Rolex watch and is accompanied by a five-year international warranty.
