To celebrate the 100th anniversary of the legendary 24 Hours of Le Mans race, the Swiss watchmaker Rolex presented its new interpretation of the Oyster Perpetual Cosmograph Daytona on June 10. An iconic model revisited today through an innovative design and technical innovations.
The Cosmograph Daytona: a legendary model
If Rolex has a habit of unveiling new models during the year, the announcement of this new version of the Oyster Daytona is something to delight watch lovers.
A legendary model from 1963, the Cosmograph Daytona was designed to meet the needs of motor racing professionals. The Oyster Daytona has since remained a legendary timepiece.
On the occasion of the 100th anniversary of the 24 Hours of Le Mans race, Rolex is therefore presenting a new version of its emblematic chronograph: a Cosmograph Daytona under the reference 126529LN in which the design and the movement undeniably recall this legendary event.
New features and an evocative design
In 18 ct white gold, the watch features a black ceramic bezel. The number “100” of the tachymetric scale is colored with red ceramic and evokes the centenary of the race.
Another special feature is that the new version of the Cosmograph Daytona is equipped with caliber 4132, a unique movement echoing the world of racing which allows the timing of hours over twenty-four hours instead of the usual twelve hours on the other models.
Note that this Daytona is also available in a yellow gold version which displays an openworked oscillating weight as well as an optimized ball bearing.
New functionalities and daring design, Rolex thus celebrates here the history of one of the most emblematic motor races in the world through a racy and exclusive aestheticism.
