Argentine coach Mauricio Pochettino has entered a party to increasing speculation about the future of Portuguese Jose Mourinho, the Italian coach of Roma.
According to the Italian “Calciomercato” website, the Roma club is already preparing an alternative plan in anticipation of the possible departure of Mourinho, as he is considered one of the strongest candidates for the leadership of the Portugal national team.
The Italian website indicated that Roma plans to contract with Pochettino in the event of Mourinho’s departure, given that the Argentine coach is one of the most experienced in Europe, in addition to that he has not been associated with any club, since his departure from Paris Saint-Germain, “and therefore the wolves will not have to pay any penalty clause.” ยป.
He added, “Pochettino will be a reason why Rome will not put many obstacles in front of Mourinho to terminate his contract, which extends until the summer of 2024, and allow him to lead his country.”
Several reports had claimed that Mourinho would be the successor to Fernando Santos in the coaching seat of Portugal, to lead his country after the 2022 World Cup.
The Portuguese national team was deposited in the 2022 World Cup in the quarter-finals at the hands of the Moroccan national team.
