Roman Kostomarov had the fingers of his left hand amputated.
This is reported by Moskovsky Komsomolets, citing a source in the hospital.
“The amputation of the fingers of the hand was necessary because they began to turn black, which meant that the process of gangrene had begun in the hand. In this case, every hour, minute is important, this process is ongoing and could soon go to the entire brush, ”the source told MK.
It is noted that if the process goes further, then Kostomarov will be prepared for amputation of the entire left hand.
At the moment, the skater is off the ventilator and is breathing on his own. His condition is assessed as stable.
Kostomarov is the 2006 Olympic champion in ice dancing. In January, he was hospitalized with severe pneumonia.
