Rome Championship: Nadal qualifies for the round of 16 easily
World number four Rafael Nadal won his first match in the Rome Masters with a thousand points, and qualified for the round of 16 of the Masters Tournament, after beating American John Isner, 6-3 6-1, on Wednesday.
The defending champion Nadal decided the match in his favor after one hour and 17 minutes, as he seeks to achieve his 11th title in the Italian capital.
was Nadal quit the Madrid dirt championship after falling to compatriot Carlos Alcaraz who withdrew from the Rome Championship.

In another match, world number three Alexander Zverev overcame Argentine Sebastian Paez 7-6 (8-6) 6-3 to reach the same round.
The German, who lost to Alcaraz last Sunday in the Madrid Masters final, will next meet with Australian Alex de Minaur, who beat American Tommy Paul.
Zverev won the Rome Games in 2017, defeating Serbian Novak Djokovic in the final. The following year, he lost in the final against Nadal, who also knocked him out of the quarter-finals last year.
