Manchester United suffered a 1-0 defeat at home to Real Sociedad in the Europa League group stage on Thursday, in Cristiano Ronaldo’s first starting game since losing to Brentford 4-0 last month.
Manchester United won 4 consecutive domestic matches after that harsh defeat, during which Ronaldo was sitting on the bench, before returning to the start on Thursday.
Brice Mendes scored the game’s only goal in the 59th minute after substitute Lisandro Martinez touched the ball with his hand inside the penalty area after a shot from veteran David Silva.
