by Alexandra Hartman Editor-in-Chief

In a thrilling finish in front of the Plaza Bolívar in Pampán, Roniel Campos from Yaracuy took out his “tag” as a great favorite and won the second stage to become the new leader of the Vuelta a Trujillo 2024. He arrived with a time of 3:35:27′.

At the service of the local team Confitería La Guacamaya – Salricas, the three-time Vuelta al Táchira champion and former UCI Intercontinental runner, showed his credentials, taking the yellow jersey worn by his teammate, Yonathan Eugenio from Trujillo.

Campos, who is just recovering his best physical condition, surpassed the Colombians Kevin Cano (Comercializadora Farmacia Birdman) and Carlos Parra (Team Saitel of Ecuador) at the finish line. In the general standings, Fernando Briceño from Trujillo, from the Bolivarian Government of Trujillo – MPPOP, is second, 9 seconds behind.

Among those who encouraged the escape of the day, Yilbert Ramírez, from Indet-Cricket Trujillo, was seen. The race that started from the La Ceiba municipality had its eventful moment 50km into the race, when more than half of the peloton suffered a fall that kept the race neutralized.

STAGE 3
