Rousseau defends Vandenbroucke and criticizes the approach of the MR who “put us in the m …”

Mr Rousseau was questioned about Minister Vandenbroucke’s statement that the closure of non-essential stores was intended to create a knockdown, and the criticisms that followed.

Lhe president of the sp.a Conner Rousseau fully retains his confidence in Frank Vandenbroucke, his party colleague, Federal Minister of Health, he said Monday evening, during the program “Terzake” on the Canvas channel ( VRT).

Mr Rousseau was questioned about Minister Vandenbroucke’s statement that the closure of non-essential stores was intended to create a knockdown, and the criticisms that followed.

“As the second wave hit hard and hospitals were complaining about the situation, we had to step up the fight against the virus on all fronts,” said spa.a president. “The only two exceptions allowed concerned the authorization of schools to remain open and leaving the home without needing a certificate, as in France … We had to take the virus by the skin of the neck and limit the number of contacts and therefore the number of infections, ”he added.

Attacks against the MR

One of Frank Vandenbroucke’s detractors is the former Minister for the Independents and deputy MR Denis Ducarme, coalition partner of the sp.a. “We all know the approach of the MR under the previous government: too rapid an easing put us in this m ….”, replied Conner Rousseau.

The president of the sp.a. defended the government’s approach. “It is precisely thanks to all the measures and to the sacrifices also made by traders that the figures are now moving in the right direction. (…) If things go well, everyone wants to relax. Well, that’s what we are doing by reopening the stores, ”he explained.

Mr. Rousseau said he hoped not to find himself in the “alley of miseries” of recent years. “This government has now made a good start. It would honor Belgium and Flanders to pull on the same rope. Why would you want to give some people the impression that their sacrifices made no difference? He said again.
