Kempten – With an extraordinarily strong team performance, the elite amateurs of the RSC Auto Brosch Kempten managed to win the 2nd Schönberger Whitsun Cycle Race on Saturday, May 28th, against the high-class and numerically strong KT professionals from Germany and abroad.

Although Dario Rapps regularly proved to be the strongest sprinter in the evaluation of the criterion over 100 laps (70 kilometers), constant attacks from the competition required the greatest attention and concentration in every second of the race. In the end, Rapps, Andreas Mayr, Jonas Schmeiser, Silias Motzkus, Michael Wasserrab, Florian Weber and Manuel Porzner succeeded so well that Rapps won ahead of Lukas Ruegg (Team Vorarlberg) and Fabian Danner (54×11). Mayr was also fifth.

In the midst of numerous national team riders from all over the world who wanted to collect UCI points for the 2024 Olympic qualification on the track, Moritz Augenstein from the RSC not only got involved in the 3-track tour in Singen last weekend, but let most of them do it look pretty old.

RSC driver Augenstein duped the international competition

On the first day, Augenstein and his partner Moritz Malcharek from the German national team finished second in the Madison competition over 180 laps behind the New Zealand duo Aaron Gate/Tom Sexton. He achieved the same strong result on the second day in the omnium competition. On the third day, Augenstein even went one better and won both the elimination race and the Madison with partner Malcharek.

Schmeiser wins Bavarian road championship title

Jonas Schmeiser from RSC Auto Brosch Kempten clearly had trouble climbing onto the top step of the podium at the award ceremony after the 35th Main-Spessart Tour in Karbach on May 21st. As the best-placed driver of a Bavarian club, he had to let himself be torn from a group of seven chasing him behind the eventual winner Sebastian Niehues (RSV Münster) with severe cramps shortly before the finish line in the difficult and, with 138 kilometers and 1,800 meters in altitude, unusually long race for a criterion specialist, secured himself but as eighth overall, the national championship title of the elite amateurs in front of Daniel Bichlmann (54×11) and Nepomuk Roth (VC Ratisbona Regensburg).

Last year’s Cape Epic winner Georg Egger was even worse off than Schmeiser. He broke away with Niehues right after the start and later even had to give up the race because of cramps. Steffen Greger and Dario Rapps finished the race in 22nd and 30th place, making them one of the few drivers to even finish.

Solo victory for Gericke in Heilbronn

Heiko Gericke’s series of successes continues: At the 4th round of the Interstuhl Cup on May 21st in Heilbronn, he pulled away from his competitors in the third of 25 laps of 1.6 kilometers in the Masters 4 race and won solo ahead of Stefan Bock (RSV Talfingen) and Frank Duell (RSV Öschelbronn). “That was really fun. Lots of curves and constantly uphill and downhill, like on a roller coaster,” said Gericke, delighted about his eighth win of the season, with which he recaptured the lead in the overall standings of the racing series after skipping the previous race. Thomas Tantz took 11th place in the Masters 2/3 competition.

Laschewski wins in Angerberg – podium for Rieger and Bühler

Noah Laschewski, Patrick Rieger and Andreas Bühler from the RSC recently started at the eldoRADo Bike Festival in Angerberg/Tyrol. Laschewski won the middle distance over 59 kilometers and 1,480 meters in altitude, Rieger also finished fourth overall and third in the license class on the long distance with 88 kilometers and 2,325 meters in altitude. Andreas Bühler won the M50 class over the long distance as 25th overall.

RSC women’s team wins Rad Race 120 in Sonthofen

With two pure women’s teams, the RSC women went on 20./21. May at the Rad Race 120, a two-stage race with 2,000 participants in Sonthofen. Team 1 with Valerie Moser, Sabrina Zwick and Paulina Wörz and Team 2 with Pia Vogt, Elisabeth Egerter, Maria Marb and Lisa Wiessler. On Saturday the prologue was a mountain time trial to the Bildstöckle with 4.3 kilometers and 380 meters in altitude, on Sunday a road race including over the Riedberg Pass with 126 kilometers and 2,260 meters in altitude. Team 1 won the overall standings with a ten-minute lead over the Sport Haschko Ladies, while Team 2 took fourth place out of a total of 14 women’s teams.

Paulina Wörz reports on her extremely successful weekend: “After Valerie, Sabrina and I won the prologue on Saturday, we were allowed to start in the first block on Sunday. The race was supposed to start with six kilometers of “relaxed following”, but from the start we rolled at over 40 km/h from Sonthofen via Immenstadt to Oberstaufen. After that, the field spread out a bit, which was relaxing for me because of the many road islands and construction sites that you had to be very careful of.

We then drove at a good pace via Hittisau, Sausteig and Rohrmoos in the direction of the ascent to the Riedberg Pass. Since the Riedberg Pass was closed to motorized vehicles, we were cheered on by many spectators there, which made the climb a little more pleasant. After the Riedberg Pass we had to drive over Rohrmoos again, which demanded the last of our strength. Valerie couldn’t avoid an accident there and fell on her bike, but thank God without major damage. The goal was in Bolsterlang at the ski lift, where a few steep meters of altitude had to be conquered. And we were all cheered on there too. So the three of us from RSC Team 1 were the first women’s team to finish. In this race it didn’t matter how fast the first person on the team was, only the time it took the third fastest team member to cover the distance. As the best women’s team, we won a week’s holiday in Mallorca and a free start for next year.” kb
