The British head coach came in August 2020 – and will stay with the Bundesliga club for the time being. HRC President found words of praise.
Hamburg. The Hamburger RC rugby men rely on continuity. The Bundesliga club extended the contract with their British head coach Gareth Jackson (32) by two more years until 2024. “Gareth came in August 2020 in a difficult phase when it was not possible to play due to Corona. Nevertheless, he has brought the club closer together, even recruited new players and members,” said HRC President Alexander Niepold, “the board sees his positive influence, together we want to further expand the structures created in the youth and men’s divisions.”
The coach, who wants to secure his place in the table against bottom VfR Döhren on Saturday (3 p.m., Rugbyarena Saarlandstraße), said: “My work in Hamburg has only just really begun. The potential is huge. I would like to help expand the youth department and get into the top group of the Bundesliga with the men’s team.”
