The Webb Ellis Trophy rewards the winner of the Rugby World Cup. It will be presented in Wallis and Futuna after passing through New Caledonia. A tribute for its lands in the South Pacific, a real breeding ground for players from the XV of France. The Rugby World Cup is organized in France from September 8 to October 28.

57 days before the start of the World Cup in France and the opening match between the XV of France and the All Blacks and after having stayed 4 years in South Africa, the winning country of the last edition in 2019, the Webb Ellis Cup was awarded to the French organizers of the next World Cup.

For Wallis and Futuna, we can note the names of Yoram Moefana, Sipili Falatea his uncle, Rodrigue Neti, Peato Mauvaka once again champions of France with Toulouse.

Emerick Setiano, Sébastien Vahaamahina, Yann David, Vincent Pelo, Christopher and SelevasioTolofua, Jocelino Suta, Laurent Pakihavaetau, Laurent and Logan Degache, for the oldest Abraham Tolofua who created the Lomipeau Association which helps and supervises mainly young rugby players who come from the Pacific in order to make a career in France and with the female Manae Feleu.

The William Webb Ellis Cup is named after the legendary inventor of rugby. It has been awarded to the winner of the World Cup since 1987, the date of the first edition of the competition. The trophy measures 38 centimeters in height. It is silver, gold plated. The cup is the work of London goldsmith Garrard’s, purveyor to the British crown for almost two centuries.

Sya Kolisi, the captain of the South African rugby team, was the last to lift the trophy in 2019. The France team has never been crowned.

For the second time, the Rugby World Cup is organized in France. The opening match will pit the Blues against the New Zealand All Blacks on September 8, 2023 at the Stade de France in Saint-Denis. An enticing poster, awaited for all aficionados. Winners of the World Cup 3 times, the All Blacks suffered a legendary defeat against the XV of France, in the quarter-finals of the 2007 World Cup. After a series of 14 defeats, in official matches, against the All Blacks , November 20, 2021, the blues of Fabien Galthié inflicted a heavy defeat on the New Zealanders: 40 to 25 at the Stade de France.
