Astana/Almaty – The early parliamentary elections in central Asian Kazakhstan passed without major incidents. 54.19 percent of the approximately 12 million eligible voters exercised their right to vote on Sunday in the ex-Soviet republic bordering on Russia and China. As the state TV reported, citing post-election polls, the ruling Amanat party was ahead with around 53 percent of the votes. Five to six parties are likely to move into parliament – instead of the previous three.
