Another 40 civilians, including eight children, and 14 women, were evacuated this Sunday from residential buildings adjacent to the Azovstal steel plant in Mariupol, eastern Ukraine, Russian media reported at the scene.

From Bezimenne, some 33 kilometers east of the city, the Russian media indicated that the operation had the support of the International Committee of the Red Cross and also United Nations personnel.

Previously, the Russian Defense Ministry announced on Saturday that 46 civilians had been rescued from the Azovstal plant, the last concentration place of Ukrainian forces in the city of Mariupol, in eastern Ukraine.

He adds that the refugees are currently in a help center for the evacuated population deployed by the Donetsk Ministry of Emergencies.
