Russia Implements Biometric Data Collection for Migrants: Government Approval and Implementation Plan

In Russia, a system of digital profiles for migrants will be developed in accordance with a two-year action plan approved by the government as part of the implementation of the concept of migration policy. This became known from a government document.

“The plan involves creating a digital profile of a foreign citizen,” RIA Novosti reports the contents of the document. They added that the document also provides for an experiment to collect biometric data from foreigners arriving at Moscow airports, including genomic registration and voice analysis. In addition, it is planned to develop a leaflet for migrants, which will contain information regarding the rules and norms of behavior in Russia.
