Russia intensifies attack to seize Azovstall steel factory in Mariupol

Ukraine: Russia has stepped up its offensive to seize the Azovstal steel factory in the southern Ukrainian port city of Mariupol. Russian President Vladimir Putin has demanded the surrender of the remaining fighters in the factory. The Russian media also reported footage of explosions at the factory. However, the Ukrainian military said it would not surrender and would continue to oppose Russia. Russia claims that all parts except the factory are currently under Russian control.

Ukraine says more than 300 civilians are trapped in Mariupol. Ukrainian President Vladimir Selensky has called for a long – term ceasefire to evacuate them safely. Meanwhile, Russia has announced a three – day humanitarian corridor to evacuate the people of Mariupol.
