The Ukrainian Air Force said on the Telegram application that the air defense systems participated, early Sunday, in repelling an air attack launched by Russian forces on Kiev.

Archyde.com witnesses heard explosions similar to the sound of air defense systems hitting targets. No information has yet been received regarding possible damages.

Sirens sounded in Kiev and its region and a number of regions in central and eastern Ukraine following two o’clock in the morning local time (2300 GMT) to warn of air strikes.

On the Russian side, the leadership of the Russian Southern Forces Group confirmed, in exclusive statements to the Russian “TASS” agency, that the Russian airborne forces repelled the attack of 300 Ukrainian soldiers, backed by 6 tanks and 10 armored vehicles, in Donetsk.

On Saturday, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky accused “some” Western partners of procrastinating over projects to train Ukrainian pilots to fly combat aircraft.

“Do they have any idea when Ukraine might get the F-16 (fighters)?” Zelensky told reporters, alongside Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez, referring to Western countries.

He added, “There is no timetable for training missions. I think some partners are dragging their feet. Why are they doing that? I don’t know.”
