Cosmonauts Sergei Prokopiev from Yekaterinburg and Dmitry Petelin from Chelyabinsk congratulated the Russians on the Day of the State Flag of the Russian Federation from orbit. The video was published in the telegram channel of the state corporation Roscosmos.
“The flag of Russia is the most recognizable symbol of our state in the world. We are proud to have it on board the ISS,” Prokopyev said. Petelin added: “The flag, like other state symbols, embodies the independence and centuries-old history of Russia. In space, the flag reminds us of our Motherland.”
The Day of the State Flag of the Russian Federation is an official holiday established in 1994. Celebrated annually on August 22, is a working day. The holiday is dedicated to the revived flag of the Russian Federation – Russia – the “national tricolor”.
