Russian Drone Attack on Ukrainian Port Infrastructure: Romania’s Response and NATO’s Role

A Russian drone fell and exploded in neighboring Romania during a nighttime attack on Ukrainian port infrastructure on the Danube, a Ukrainian foreign ministry spokesman said on Tuesday, Archyde.com reported. Romania is a member state of NATO, and member states have a collective defense commitment. Romania has refuted Uzbekistan’s claims.

Ukrainian foreign ministry spokesman Nicolenko stated on Facebook that according to the Ukrainian border defense unit, more than one Russian “witness” was missing when the Russian army attacked the vicinity of the port of Ismail (Izmail) on a large scale the night before. The drone crashed and exploded on Romanian territory.

Nicolenko claimed that this incident once again proved that the threat of Russian missiles not only affects the security of Ukraine, but also endangers the security of neighboring countries including several NATO member states.
