Figure skater Kamila Valieva, whose result at the Olympic Games in Beijing was canceled due to a violation of anti-doping rules, stopped receiving a scholarship from the President of the Russian Federation. This was reported to TASS by the press service of the Russian Ministry of Sports.

The presidential scholarship for Olympic champions is 52 thousand rubles, silver medalists – 39 thousand, bronze medalists – 30 thousand.

“Based on the decree of the President of the Russian Federation V.V. Putin dated March 31, 2011 No. 368, the stipend of the President of the Russian Federation is paid to Olympic champions for life, and to silver and bronze medalists of the Olympic Games – during the period of being on the list of candidates for the sports team of the Russian Federation according to the relevant sport,” the press service of the Ministry of Sports reported. — In accordance with the order of the Ministry of Sports of Russia dated 03/07/2024 No. 263, the scholarship of the President of the Russian Federation is paid to athletes: Nikita Katsalapov – Olympic champion in the team competition of the 2014 Olympic Winter Games in Sochi, Anastasia Mishina, Alexander Gallyamov and Mark Kondratyuk – bronze medalists of the Olympic Winter Games 2022 in Beijing. Due to disqualification, Kamila Valieva was excluded from the list of candidates for the Russian Federation national figure skating team. The payment of the scholarship of the President of the Russian Federation to her has been stopped.”

“The bronze medalist of the 2022 Olympic Winter Games in Beijing, Victoria Sinitsina, due to a break in her sports career, is not included in the list of candidates for the Russian Federation national figure skating team for the 2023-2024 sports season. In this regard, the payment of the scholarship of the President of the Russian Federation to her has been stopped,” the press service of the Ministry of Sports reported.

On January 29, the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) disqualified Valieva for violating anti-doping rules, satisfying the World Anti-Doping Agency’s request for a four-year punishment. The suspension starts on December 25, 2021. The figure skater’s results shown from this moment on have been cancelled.

On January 30, the International Skating Union revised the results of the team tournament of the Beijing Olympics, moving the Russian team, for which, in addition to Valieva, Sinitsyna, Katsalapov, Mishina, Gallyamov and Kondratyuk competed, from first place to third. On February 29, an appeal against the CAS decision in the case of the Russian figure skater was registered in the Federal Court of Switzerland.
