Russian Foreign Minister: Sudan has the right to use the services of the Wagner Group if it so desires
He also considered that Sudan has the right to use the services of the Russian private security group, Wagner, if it so desires.
Sudan has been witnessing a bloody power struggle between the army and the paramilitary Rapid Support Forces since April 15.
Lavrov made this statement during a press conference at the United Nations in New York.
Lavrov also stressed that the conflicting parties in Sudan must reach an agreement without external interference.
Lavrov said: “Geopolitical engineering will not end well. We must not hinder the conflicting parties in reaching an agreement among themselves, by adding demands from abroad that do not reflect the interests of these countries.”
Lavrov also confirmed that UNICEF asked the Russian embassy in Sudan to help the organization’s staff, adding: “Today, UNICEF representatives asked our embassy to shelter its staff in some way, because they are in an unsafe place. I don’t know how this can be done, but we will do it now.”
