Moscow: Russian opposition leader Alexei Navalny is reported missing. His spokesman and other allies said his whereregardings were unknown.

Navalny, who is being held in a high-security prison in Moscow, is not known where he is now, his colleagues said. According to the report, the authorities said that he is not in jail and his colleagues say that he has not been able to contact him for six days.

“They refuse to say where they took him,” his colleague X wrote. Navalny’s disappearance comes just months before the Russian presidential election. Putin knows who his main opponent is in this election. “He wants to make sure that Navalny’s voice is not heard,” says the colleague. Navalny is a staunch critic of Russian President Vladimir Putin. Alexey’s disappearance is at the beginning of the campaign for the presidential election.

Navalny, 47, is serving more than 30 years in prison following being found guilty of crimes including terrorism. But Navalny and his supporters accuse the allegations of being politically motivated. Last April, Navalny was sentenced to another 19 years in prison for the charge of establishing and financing a terrorist organization. Navalny was currently serving 11 and a half years in prison for fraud.
