(CNN) The Ukrainian public body, the National Resistance Center, said on Thursday that Russian Special Operations Forces troops were being deployed to Belgorod region, which borders Ukraine. It is said that it is a movement to be wary of “partisan” activities.

“Due to the need to counter the partisan movement, units of the Russian Special Operations Forces 322nd Center ‘Senesh’ have arrived in the Belgorod region,” the center said.

“Russia was so afraid of partisans that it suspended all activities of this elite force and placed it in a border settlement in the Belgorod region. That’s what it is.”

CNN has not been able to independently verify this claim.

Earlier, Russia’s Defense Ministry released a video purporting to show an attack on a target in the Belgorod region. Russian combat aircraft “made nine strikes on retreating Ukrainian formations and enemy reserves,” it said.

Belgorod Governor Gladkov said in a post on social media Telegram on Wednesday that two women had been killed in the shelling.

Gladkov has accused the Ukrainian military of carrying out the artillery fire. The Ukrainian side has not commented on the allegations.
