Russia’s Mira Andreeva qualified for the round of 16 at the Wimbledon Tennis Championships, defeating her compatriot Anastasia Potapova in two sets, free of charge.

As in the last matches of the third round, Andreeva was able to defeat Potapova, the 21st seed, with a score of 6-2, 7-5.

This is the first time that the 16-year-old Andreeva has qualified for the round of 16 in one of the four major tournaments, where she will play in the next round against American Madison Keys.

For her part, Czech Marketa Vondrochova qualified for the quarter-finals in the tournament for the first time by defeating her compatriot Marie Bouzkova.

Vondrukova beat Bouzkova in two sets, 2-6, 6-4, 6-3.

Reaching the quarter-finals in a major tournament is the first for the 42nd-ranked player in the world since she finished second in the final of the “Roland Garros” tournament in 2019.

The 24-year-old will play in the quarter-finals against American Jessica Pegula, fourth in the world.
