Tarpishchev advised Pavlyuchenkova to lose weight for a better game

President of the Russian Tennis Federation (RTF) Shamil Tarpischev said TASSthat the Tokyo Olympic champion in mixed doubles Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova needs to lose weight in order to return to the previous level after an injury as soon as possible.
Pavlyuchenkova missed almost all of last year due to a knee injury and is ranked 424th in the WTA rankings. At the tournament in Strasbourg, Pavlyuchenkova reached her first quarterfinal in 20 months.
“Pavlyuchenkova is gaining shape. Now the main thing for her is to lose weight in order to return to the level. She loves sweets too. Coming back from injuries is always difficult, but it’s good and important that she won a couple of matches. It gives positive emotions,” said Tarpishchev.
The head of the federation noted that it is difficult to predict Pavlyuchenkova’s success in Strasbourg “because of her condition.” “There is no need to wait for long-term stability, and much will depend on the rivals, and not on herself,” added Tarpishchev.
Pavlyuchenkova wins WTA match for the first time since January 2022
On Thursday, May 25, Pavlyuchenkova will play for reaching the semifinals of the tournament in Strasbourg with American Lauren Davis (58th racket of the world).
The prize fund of the tournament exceeds €225,000. The winner will receive 280 rating points and nearly €30,000 in prize money.
On May 15, Tarpishchev advised to limit sweets to the first racket of Russia, Daniil Medvedev, who played at the Masters tournament in Rome. Medvedev eventually won the tournament.
The Fonbet betting company accepts bets on Pavlyuchenkova’s victory with odds of 1.48, and on Davis’s win with odds of 2.65.
