SYDNEY, January 18. /TASS/. Russian tennis player Daniil Medvedev beat Finn Emil Ruusuvuori in the second round match of the Australian Open. The tournament takes place in Melbourne.
The meeting ended with a score of 3:6, 6:7 (1:7), 6:4, 7:6 (7:1), 6:0 in favor of Medvedev, seeded third in the tournament. In the third round, the Russian will play with Canadian Felix Auger-Aliassime.
Medvedev is 27 years old, he ranks third in the world rankings, in 2022 the Russian was the first racket of the world for 16 weeks, and has 20 Association of Tennis Professionals (ATP) titles to his name. An athlete’s best result at a Grand Slam tournament is winning the US Open in 2021. In the same year, as part of the Russian team, Medvedev won the ATP Cup and Davis Cup.
