Russians began to use VPN 11 thousand percent more often, despite blocking

Against the backdrop of blocking Western websites, publications and social networks in Russia, the number of users of various VPN services has increased dramatically in the country. According to SurfShark, some of the key services increased sales of services to Russians by 3,500 percent. And according to the data AtlasVPN, the number of VPN installations on mobile devices increased by 11,253 percent. And that’s just in a week.

The exact volume of installations is not yet known, since the services do not share statistical data with each other. However, even the blocking of VPN services by Russian providers does not stop Russians from circumventing censorship.

The current data represents the period from March 7 to March 14, so the numbers should be even higher today.
