Already beaten by Club NXT and forced into the play-off against RSCA Futures, the Molenbeekois faced Jong Genk this Saturday evening, with the ambition of finally defeating a U23 team this season.
The good intentions were confirmed on the ground with a multitude of opportunities forged by the RWDM. From the 3rd, De Sart’s overpowering shot was well deflected by Leysen. The Genk goalkeeper then began his festival. He deflected a shot from Oyama, was then in the right place on Challouk’s attempt before fending off a shot from Smeets at Plange’s feet and getting up just as quickly to recover the leather. And when he was beaten, the Genk goalkeeper was saved by his post on a powerful shot from Heris.
At half-time, an attractive and dominating RWDM should have led but the realization was lacking against an excellent Leysen.
The recovery was much less interesting. The RWDM no longer really managed to worry Genkois better in place. And after the failures of the first act, the Molenbeekois were punished on a counter when Heris roughly hung Rommens in the area. Geusens did not need to be asked to put his people in charge (0-1).
Plange should have relaunched the game by equalizing but his recovery was flying in the clouds when he was alone in the small rectangle. And while we were heading for a defeat, on an action of genius, Challouk equalized and saved a point.
