Since 2019, RX, a business event organization company, has adopted new sustainability indicators at its events in Brazil, in line with new global demands for environmental protection. Energy consumption per area used (Kwh/m²) and waste generation per area used (Kg/m²) are some of the parameters for expanding sustainable practices.

Currently, the organizer monitors 100% of the events in its portfolio in the country, including fairs such as: Bienal do Livro, AUTOMEC, FENATRAN and FEICON. Between the events that were held in 2019 (pre-pandemic) and the end of 2022 (post-pandemic), RX presented a 12% reduction in energy consumption per m² used, due to the implementation of policies such as: air conditioning only during the event (turned on one hour before opening and turned off at closing) and lighting at 50% capacity during the assembly and disassembly periods.

40% reduction in waste generation at events

The reduction in waste generation was 40% in the period, as a result of a series of actions such as: use of reusable and fully recyclable carpet, implementation of a project to assemble stands with reusable and recyclable materials, reuse of printed signage materials, adoption of reusable materials in catering services, collection of badges at the end of the event, in addition to the use of recycled paper.

Another record was the growth in the proportion of recyclable waste, which jumped from 28% (2019) to 38% (2022). Of the total waste generated, in addition to the reduction in waste production, its quality was also improved, providing reuse through recycling.

“We are not only following ESG trends, but proposing solutions and actively participating in change. In practically all of our content programming, sustainability is one of the most discussed pillars, so it makes perfect sense that this is a practice of our achievements”, says Márcio Alves, director of RX Brasil.
