Shifting focus away from Fred and Wilma Flintstone, the new Warner Bros. project explores a grown-up version of Barney and Betty Rubble’s son. Bamm-Bamm is no stranger to aging up across franchise history. Deadline notes that the character first made the leap from toddler with a club to teenager in the 1971–1972 CBS Saturday morning animated series The Pebbles and Bamm-Bamm Show. That retro series tracked the teenage duo attending Bedrock High School, holding down their first jobs, and performing in a band called the Bedrock Rockers.
Live-action adaptations of the broader property have a box office lineage. Warner Bros. previously released 1994’s The Flintstones and 2000’s The Flintstones in Viva Rock Vegas. Combined, those two theatrical features pulled in $401 million globally. The original 1994 cast featured John Goodman as Fred, Rick Moranis as Barney, Elizabeth Perkins as Wilma, and Rosie O’Donnell as Betty. The 2000 follow-up swapped in Mark Addy, Stephen Baldwin, Kristen Johnston, and Jane Krakowski.
