Saad Al-Mujjarred concert in Iraq stirs uproar between supporters and opponents against the background of rape cases

Moroccan artist Saad Lamjarred is preparing to hold a concert in Iraq next June, on his first artistic visit to this country.

However, the owner of the song “You are a teacher”, which achieved one billion views on YouTube a few days ago, appears to be unwelcome in Mesopotamia, where activists on social media platforms are leading a campaign calling for the refusal to hold his concert.

Through the hashtag, Saad Lamjarred’s concert, Iraqis circulated tweets objecting to the Moroccan artist coming to Baghdad and reviving the party.

The Speak Up feminist movement published a tweet on its Twitter account, in which it said, “Because of the accusation in 4 rape cases, many Iraqi public and feminists started a hashtag against Saad Lamjarred’s concert in Iraq.”

While the owner of the “Olivi” account tweeted, “No one wants you to understand. Stay in your country in Morocco or the Emirates… He is still followed in France and his case is not over yet, and it is not the first time he has done it in America…”.

While the owner of the Elaph account said, “Saad’s presence just is a disgrace to Baghdad.”

welcome sounds

Not all voices were against Saad Lamjarred’s coming to Iraq to perform his concert, as other voices rose on Twitter welcoming him through the hashtag “Saad Lamjarred to enlighten Baghdad.”

As the owner of the Ali Emory account said, “Baghdad welcomes all artists, the capital of the world for culture and arts, and welcome to you.”

He was arrested just in 2010 in the United States after being accused of raping and beating a girl. However, he was released on financial bail pending the completion of investigations, but he left the country before that and did not return to the United States again.

In 2016, he was arrested again in France after a French girl accused the artist of beating and raping her in a hotel where he was staying. He was arrested in another incident in 2018 in Saint-Tropez, eastern France, in a similar case.
