Saad Lamjarred’s concert in Baghdad canceled after opponents tried to storm it

Today, Thursday, the administration of the “Sinbad Land” tourist city in Baghdad canceled the concert scheduled for Moroccan artist Saad Lamjarred, after protesters stormed the concert venue.

The famous star was scheduled to perform his first concert in Iraq, today, Thursday, on the land of Sinbad Land, east of the capital.

Hundreds of opponents, led by clerics, gathered in front of the tourist city, and raised banners against holding the ceremony.

Some demonstrators tried to storm the tourist city, but the riot forces managed to repel them.

Completely cancel the party

After gatherings in front of the tourist city gate, the administration canceled the party completely.

The administration of “Sinbad Land” had decided to postpone the concert of the Moroccan artist in Baghdad from June 2 to 9 of the same month, in order to coincide with the first date of the fortieth anniversary of the killing of Imam Ali, according to a statement by the administration published by the Iraqi News Agency (INA).

Frequently, armed factions, and demonstrators from their supporters, are pressing for the cancellation of artistic and singing concerts; On the grounds that it coincides with religious ceremonies, or that it violates the prevailing norms and religious teachings.

Mohamed Ramadan.. and Elissa

Earlier, the tourist city was forced to issue a pledge not to hold parties, after a great uproar following the concert hosted by Egyptian artist Mohamed Ramadan.

During the past months, the city of “Sinbad Land” was able to revive a concert by the artist Mohamed Ramadan and Elissa, but the controversy accompanied those parties as well, while a concert scheduled for the artist Assi El-Hillani and Hassan Shakoush was canceled last year.

The tourist city is considered one of the largest games cities in the Iraqi capital, Baghdad, and it is also the first to hold musical concerts hosted by prominent Arab artists.
