Saad Yakan and “The Heritage of Fine Art” in the “Al Owais Cultural”

The Sultan Bin Ali Al Owais Cultural Foundation organized an artistic lecture by the veteran Syrian artist, Saad Yakan, entitled “The Crisis of Expressing Heritage in Fine Art”, which was accompanied by a presentation of illustrated slides about the artist’s rich experience that extends for more than half a century.

The lecture was attended by an audience of various cultural and artistic segments and public figures who were crammed into the Foundation’s lecture hall, led by Dr. Fatima Al-Sayegh, member of the Board of Trustees, Ibrahim Al-Hashemi, Executive Director of the Foundation, artist Salma Al-Marri, artist Muhammad Khair Jarrah, director Walid Quwatli and other cultural personalities and friends of the Foundation. .

During his lecture, the artist Saad Yakan presented approaches to: “The Crisis of Freedom and Expression, Image, Profiling, Significance, Credibility, Bet, and the Contrast of Dependency and Freedom.”

The veteran artist talked about ready-made concepts circulating in the art world and the necessity of re-examining them and not relying on what is ready-made from the sayings.

The attendees gave testimonies about the world of art represented by the artist, and discussed the idea of ​​myths, the mechanism of their employment, and how to benefit from the popular or historical heritage.

At the end of the evening, Fatima Al-Sayegh presented a certificate of appreciation to the artist and thanked him for his efforts in enriching the formation movement and wished for more giving.

It is noteworthy that Saad was a Syrian plastic artist, born in Aleppo in 1949. He participated in more than 100 group exhibitions in Arab and foreign countries, and his works are distributed around the world.

Saad Yakan graduated from the Fine Arts Center in Aleppo in 1964, and in 1965 he began participating in official state exhibitions. He joined the Faculty of Fine Arts in 1970.
