Japan’s anime song scene has lost a giant. Ichiro Mizuki, the veteran Japanese animation singer who sang the theme songs of “Invincible Iron King Kong” and many other robot animation series, announced today (12th) afternoon that he died of lung cancer at the age of 74.
Mizuki Ichiro is honored as “the emperor of Japanese animation songs”. He debuted in 1968 and began to sing animation songs in 1971. For more than half a century, Mizuki Ichiro can be called the emperor of Japanese animation music. He has sung “Invincible Iron King Kong”, “Steel Gek”, “Super Electromagnetic Robot”, and “Holy Warrior (King of Beasts)” are called “Big Brother” by fans and the industry.
In April last year, I was diagnosed with stomach cancer due to a health checkup, and it even spread to other parts of the body. I just announced my lung cancer in July. In November, I attended an event organized by the Japan Singers Association in a wheelchair. After fighting the disease for 1 year and 7 months, On December 6, he developed an abnormality and was rushed to the hospital for emergency treatment. He died at 6:50 p.m., and the funeral and other related ceremonies have been completed.
