Sahrawi activist Sultana Khaya shares in Paris her suffering under the Moroccan colonial yoke

ParisSep 12, 2022 (SPS) Sahrawi human rights activist, Sultana Khaya shared, on Sunday in Paris, her bitter experience under siege and her suffering in the face of gross human rights violations by the Moroccan occupier , because of its fight in favor of the Saharawi people’s right to independence, calling on the French government to take “a balanced position” with regard to the conflict in Western Sahara.

The president of the Sahrawi League for Human Rights, Sultana Khaya spoke on the occasion of the celebration, in Paris, of “the Festival of Humanity”.

She delivered, in this context, “a moving testimony on the violations of human rights against her person and expressed her suffering under the oppression exerted by the Moroccan occupier who had put her under siege during 19 months in his home in occupied Boujdour, because of his unshakable position in favor of the right of the Saharawi people to freedom.

Affirming that her resistance was part of “the peaceful Sahrawi resistance in the occupied areas”, and aimed to “lay bare the human rights violations committed by the Moroccan occupier”, Sultana Khaya seized her stay in Paris to demand the lifting of the state of siege on the Saharawi people and to call on France to take a balanced position with a view to liberating the Saharawi territories from an iniquitous occupation and an illegal invasion.

The Sahrawi activist also gave an interview to the French newspaper “L’Humanité” where she recounted her experience and her resistance to the Moroccan occupation.

For his part, the representative of the Polisario Front in France, Mohamed Sidati animated, on the sidelines of his participation in the celebrations of the “Festival of Humanity”, a conference where he evoked the latest developments of the Sahrawi cause and the responsibility of the international community on the matter.

“The UN has not respected its commitments, while the inalienable right of the Saharawi people is still under its responsibilities, Western Sahara being the last colony in Africa”, he said.

This event was marked by the organization of a day of solidarity with the Saharawi people.

In addition to the Sahrawi party, French personalities and French associations of friendship with the Sahrawi people took part in this celebration. (SPS)
