The information disclosed by Het Nieuwsblad was confirmed by the spokesperson for the area and by the Brussels public prosecutor’s office. Officers were attempting to intercept suspected drug dealers when they were assaulted by bystanders. One of them was arrested and received a summons for an immediate appearance.

The facts took place place Jacques Franck in Saint-Gilles. The officers on patrol had intervened following actions deemed suspicious with a scooter. “They found a large quantity of drugs near this scooter. But, when the suspects tried to flee, they received help from passers-by“, said the spokeswoman for the police area Sarah Frederickx. “They threatened the officers and assaulted them. A violent altercation ensued, during which three officers were injured. Two of them suffered a few days of incapacity for work, the third a month.”
